Behind the scenes 3 minute read
Around the Table: DOMA in the Making

Before a collection finds its way into a home, there is a table. Things are gathered on it. People gather around it. Possibilities begin to take shape.
At a recent DOMA meeting, that table held a little of everything: glassware catching the window light, folded textiles, candlesticks, small sculptural objects, and a chessboard waiting for its first move. These photographs offer a look at DOMA while it is still in the making.
A little closer to the details
Seen together, everyday objects start a conversation. A soft cloth changes the feeling of polished stone. A curve finds its counterpart in a straight line. Something playful can loosen up a room that has become a little too serious.
This is the part we love: looking closely enough to notice what a photograph alone cannot tell you. The weight of a glass. The way a napkin falls. Whether a piece invites you to pick it up, use it, and make it part of an ordinary day.
People make the picture
Look past the objects and the most important part of the scene comes into focus. People, standing around a table, sharing space and paying attention.
That feeling sits at the heart of DOMA. We want to bring people with a love of home into one another’s orbit: the people imagining a space, the people making it possible, and the people who will live in it.
An open invitation
Our first chapter begins with the DOMA Directory and this Journal. One helps you find a person to work with; the other offers an idea to take home.
The Edits are taking shape behind the scenes. The objects in these meeting photographs are part of that exploration, rather than a final collection or an offer for sale. We will share the finished details when they are ready.
For now, consider this a seat at the table. There is a world coming together, and we would love you to be part of it.
Introduce your work to DOMA, or join our letters for the next chapter.
